Dr. Stephanie Gamez, Director of R&D at Agragene is advancing the industry’s first gene editing pgSIT technology for insect pest control that is currently being reviewed by U.S. regulatory agencies. Agragene is targeting commercialization in 2027 under the brand KNOCKOUT SWD. Dr. Gamez has led technical proof of concept of pgSIT in the Spotted Wing Drosophila and is currently managing collaborations with universities for in-field trials of KNOCKOUTTM SWD across various geographies and fresh berry and cherry crops. Stephanie obtained her doctorate from the University of California, San Diego where she developed synthetic genetic control systems for mosquito control. Dr. Gamez’s hobbies include illustrating science, spending time with her family, and cats.
