Martin Slayne is the Vice President, Global Scientific & Regulatory Affairs at Ingredion Incorporated. Responsible for global compliance of plant-based ingredients and enabling business growth. Previously, President and Founder at Slayne Consulting LLC, supporting organizations in the US and International, on food regulation, policy and strategy, scientific risk analysis, multi-stakeholder communication, and government advocacy. Prior senior executive positions heading-up global scientific and regulatory affairs, compliance, food safety and nutrition organizations at The Hershey Company, Mondelez International and PepsiCo. He leads global government engagement programs and cross-sector collaboration, including harmonization of standards through Codex Alimentarius, both for industry and in his past roles as Regulator on food and feed at the European Commission in Brussels, and UK Food Standards Agency in London. Martin has a PhD in microbiology, researching microbial adherence, and microbial methane production. He has a passion for advocating scientific truth, cross-sector communication on food scientific and regulatory issues, transparency, simplicity and building consumer trust. He is a strong advocate for environmental sustainability, in his spare time chairing his community Environmental Commission.
