Anindya Bandyopadhyay

Principal Scientist, Lead Precision Genetics International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center

Dr. Anindya Bandyopadhyay presently works as Genome Editing Lead and Head of Biotech for CIMMYT and stationed in Mexico City. Anindya completed his PhD from International Rice Research Institute ( IRRI), Philippines on Plant Biotechnology , followed by Post-doctoral studies in University of California Berkeley and University of Kentucky USA. His professional career encircled with plant biotech, gene targeting , plant virus interaction and gene editing in public institutes and as well as in private sector. Anindya was a scientist and group leader in IRRI and was a member of International C4 rice consortium. Anindya also worked as ‘Global Gene Editing Lead’ for Syngenta. Before joining CIMMYT Anindya worked as ‘Vice President for Synthetic Biology’ for Reliance Industries Ltd. India. Anindya is passionate about applying boundary pushing technologies for food, feed, and green chemical production for sustainable and climate resilient Agriculture.
