• We have successfully improved the functionality of tomatoes using CRISPR/Cas9, and are now selling gene edited (GE) tomatoes in supermarkets in Japan. This is the first case in the world where genome-edited crops are sold in supermarkets. I will share our experience in social implementation of the GE tomatoes and discuss strategies for promoting social implementation of GE foods.
